What does financial independence mean to you?
It’s hugely important. I’m very happily married, and so it could be easy for me to over-rely on my husband, but I’ve hate the idea of going cap-in-hand to him for money. Also, you never know what life will throw at you. We may split up, or he may die… it’s important not to be squeamish about these possibilities. If I’ve learnt anything usual from ocean rowing and adventuring it’s to be pragmatic.
What does financial independence mean to you? "It means everything! It’s about freedom to do what you want with who you want, when you want, whilst giving it to those who matter to you most, like family. It's not about wearing designer clothes or looking flash; it is about the actual knowledge of how to create wealth and being disciplined enough to execute. The ultimate goal is to become wealthy without having to inherit, marry into it or win it."

Money buys freedom. Freedom to make decisions about how to spend your time. For instance, you can choose your work (or not!), or under your own terms (part-time, out of your house, following your passion) and to make trade-offs in your time (e.g., spend time cleaning or pay someone else to help with that).Read More
