You may already know Refinery29’s Money Diaries… this is our own version of it! We’ve put together a few questions to understand what women are doing with their money. Let’s break the taboo and talk more about finances!

💭 Financial goals:

Short term (1-5 years): Buy a bigger house, have another baby.

Medium term (5-10 years): Career change, & support husband starting a business.

Long term (10 years +): Travel abroad, save for kids education.

🌟 Best buy ever: My first home bought on my own at 27 for £153k.

😳 Worst buy ever: £1k into a friends business...seemed like a good idea at the time. Never saw it again!

👀 Things you spend the most money on: Mortgage, & transport.

💸 Salary / Income: £80,000

💰 Net worth (what you own vs what you owe, or your assets minus your debts): £85,000

💻 Any side hustles: Working on it...!

👛 Savings: Yes - mostly into a regular savings account as the rules on tax on interest changed; around 10% of my salary if possible.

🏠 Home: Yes.

🔦 Debt: Paid off my student debt when I saw the interest rates go up; £5k on a credit card (interest free) & car loan of about £10k.

📈 Investing: Workplace pension + previous workplace pension recently moved to PensionBee. Now looking at stocks & shares ISA for when my credit card is paid off.

😌 Pension: Yes - workplace.

🔮 Insurances: Car, house, life.
