What On Earth Are We Doing With Our Money?

You might already be familiar with Refinery29โ€™s Money Diariesโ€ฆ well, this is the Vestpod version! Weโ€™ve put together a few questions to help us understand what women are doing with their money, and they've answered! Always fun, always succinct, and always anonymous.


Research Nurse. Manchester. 37. Married, Two Kids.

๐Ÿ’ญ Financial goals:

Short term (1-5 years): Holidays and a new car.

Medium term (5-10 years): Build savings up.

Long term (10 years +): Retire at 55.

๐ŸŒŸ Best buy ever: My £10 a month online Les Mills fitness classes and my exercise equipment, keeps me sane and healthy.

๐Ÿ˜ณ Worst buy ever: Expensive designer handbags, £500. Although I have used many times, it was a waste of money.

๐Ÿ‘€ Things you spend the most money on: Childcare.

๐Ÿ˜Œ Pension: Yes, NHS pension which I top up with AVC (£300 a month).

๐Ÿ”ฎ Insurances: Yes, holiday, car and home.

๐Ÿ’ธ Salary / Income: £38,000.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Net worth (what you own vs what you owe, or your assets minus your debts): £250,000.

๐Ÿ’ป Any side hustles: No.

๐Ÿ‘› Savings: Yes. Investment ISAS, Savings accounts and a pension which I top up with regular AVC payments.

๐Ÿ  Home: Yes, paid for. Worth £300,000.

๐Ÿ”ฆ Debt: None at all. I don't use credit cards unless it's an emergency and have no debts /loans.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Investing: My financial advisor invests in investment ISAS for me.
